Jaguar Tracks
February 7th
Dear JE families,
We have had some fun in the snow this past week! From snow showing to building snow forts, please see a few fun pictures below.
MCAS DATES have been finalized. Please mark these dates on your calendars and ensure that your children are here on these days. They have been working hard all year, MCAS is another opportunity for them to show what they know!
- 4th and 5th Grade ELA: April 5th & 6th (Makeups on the 7th)
- 4th and 5th Grade Math: May 3rd & 4th (Makeups on the 5th)
- 3rd Grade ELA: April 12th & 13th (Makeups on the 14th)
- 3rd Grade Math: May 9th & 10th (Makeups up the 11th)
- 5th Grade Science/Technology: May 17th & 18th (Makeups on the 19th)
PARKING LOT: The parking lot is for Staff only. Parents and guardians have been using this in the middle of the day for meetings or pick up. Especially now with the snow, please make sure that you are parking on the street or visitor parking to ensure that our staff have a parking spot in the staff lot.
WEATHER FLAG: We use the Weatherbug app to call indoors in the morning and during recess. We go by the "feels like" temperature. 20 degrees or less students are inside. If it is raining or heavily snowing, students will be inside as well. You can see our weather flag hung in the morning before school. As a reminder, students will be supervised by JE staff starting at 8:10.
Thank you all!
Caitlin
Celebration Book Club
The Celebration Book Club Program is a great way to support
the Joshua Eaton library and celebrate your child or honor a
special person. A book can be donated in the name of your
child, a relative, a special birthday, a special
staff member or class in our school. It is also a wonderful way
to honor a graduating 5th Grader. Please see the attached
flyer for details, and return completed forms to school
by Friday, February 18th. Thank you!
Attendance Matters!
We certainly understand that there is a potential increase in absences due to illness this year because of Covid. We appreciate your vigilance and support in helping to keep everyone safe. We also have seen an increase in unexcused absences, especially around extended vacations. We are required to share your children's' absences and tardy data. You will be receiving a letter in the coming weeks if your child has more than 5 unexcused absences and we are requesting communication on how we can work together to make sure your child is attending school regularly. It's important that we set your children up for success, especially as the past few years have been unpredictable, and attending school regularly is essential to student success. Please reach out with any questions.
Reporting Absences
Health office update:
Vision Screenings for 3rd grade students will take place next week. If you would like to opt out for your child, please email Mrs. Trevejo (elmy.trevejo@reading.k12.ma.us) by FRIDAY, 1/28/22.
From the Desk of the PTO
PTO NEWS!
Our next PTO general meeting is this Wednesday, February 9th, from 7-8! This meeting will be held virtually, so please keep an eye out for a Zoom link to join. We’d see some new faces and welcome back some of our regulars! We will be reviewing the calendar and budget, and we will discuss some upcoming events and school improvements.
PTO would like to give a huge shoutout to Brenna Westover, one of our School Resources and Staff Appreciation coordinators, who resurrected and revamped the PTO bulletin board! This board is on your right when you walk through the Oak Street doors. We hope to keep this updated with current information and events, but we do need some help with this. If you are interested in helping to maintain the bulletin board throughout the year, please email Brenna at JEPTOSchoolResources@gmail.com. Thank you for considering!!
Have a great week!
